warm face, cold butt
Sunday, May 05, 2013 Everything worth nurturing needs a huge amount of time and effort put in. Sometimes you may yield high returns, sometimes what you get out of it is nothing more than a lesson in life. It all begins with meeting somebody and then deciding to take a step more to understand this person as a friend, going beyond the customary hellos and how-are-yous into real life conversations. And then, for some, it transcends into a realm where you want to spend your days with this person. All these relationships require a lot of time and effort to build, nurture and lastly to maintain. The Chinese have a saying - 热脸贴冷屁股. To literally translate it, it means sticking your warm face to a cold butt. In short it means, trying your best to make things work but the other party just gives you the cold shoulder. No one in the right mind, likes to be receiving end of a cold butt. Neither do I. So I'm actually amazed that this is the third time that I'm at this receiving end. The only difference for this round, I'm actually calm. Someone just give me the Oscar's already for having the highest level of tolerance. But more importantly, I ask for strength, wisdom and peace. And maybe a dash of good luck. |
