Happy 24th to Meng!
Happy 23rd to me!

On my last day of being 22, I pretended there was no school and forgot all about tuition. I went out with the Ngee Ann CHS people. We ventured into Little India and found a nice little place called Zsofi Tapas Bar, thanks to Roomie Chen. The food was alright but the wall murals were awesome. The only lousy point? Their music was so loud that I think if we stayed any longer, we won't be able to hear ourselves.

We headed to Bugis McDonald's and while some people may turn their noses up at ushering in the new age in a fast food place, I kind of enjoyed it. I actually like simplicity. The idea of us sitting down, making fun of people, gossipping, playing inane childhood games and engaging in serious talk. I think McDonald's is a good place to turn 23, as long as the group is right. :)

The very day I became 23 officially, the smurfs headed down to West End at Pasir Panjang in 3 cars. It's amazing how we far we've come along. The steak was awesome and even though the guys were damn ambivalent when the crew started to play the cheesy Birthday song and presented me with my cake, I thought it was an awesome dinner.

With assignments and deadlines at the back of my mind, I innocently wanted to just let my birthday end with a dinner. But with the Smurfs, there is always a "after dinner" plans. We ping-ponged between K-Box and Zouk and as you might have guessed it, we went to Zouk because ironically, the Smurfs rather spend their money on drinks than singing.

There is a time for everything and also a group for everything. With this bunch of people, I know that I am safe when we drink. Somehow, drinking and partying with them has always been the most fun I ever had. -smiles- And we being a bunch of old fogies, could not stand the crowd at Phuture and headed to WineBar - our new favorite spot to drink and relax. I got smashed, 23 shots, 2 glasses of whisky apple, to be exact but I had fun. I am sure they had a field time laughing at me. But I must really apologise for the mess I created. They are probably the only group of people who can blackmail me with all my 'unglam' drunk shots. -_-'

The Japan earthquake happened a day before my birthday and the visuals really, saddened me. I was worried for Cass who was studying at Waseda. Thank goodness for Twitter, I managed to get updates from her and of her well-being. You know, if there is really such a thing called birthday wishes, I really really wish that Japan will recover and protection of Singapore. I don't know how many more days am I left with, I am as afraid as all of you are about death. There are 1001 things I have yet to achieve and experience. But there is no point lamenting. I'm just gonna try to be thankful for what I have and live every day like my last.

This birthday, I only wish for a calm and safe world, added with a dose of optimism.
May we move forward.
