Wednesday, December 08, 2010 Greetings from Ho Chi Minh! It's our first official full day in Vietnam and already we're planning to visit Bangkok asap. Vietnam is NOT a shopping haven. We spent much of today, slacking in cafes, sipping aromatic Vietnamese coffee and slurping delicious pho: Ben Tanh Market in the day was a slight disappointment as it was very touristy and the stallholders there are out to suck us dry. I wanted to buy the lotus seeds for my mother, and being the typical Singaporean, I refused to buy anythingwithout putting up a bargain fight. That stallholder quoted me almost $30 for 500g of lotus seeds can? I bargained and she got pissed and she told me in Cantonese to go back. So I did. I left. It's only lotus seeds, it's not gold. Must everyone "tok" tourists?! I love iPhone and I love wifi. A pity I can't access Facebook. Perhaps tomorrow will be more exciting day as we're gonna fire some AK47s and crawl the Cu Chi tunnels. -hopeful- |
