losing my voice

We take for granted with the fact that each day we wake up, we can walk, talk, see and hear.
But what if one day, you lose one of these precious senses? How would you survive?

I went for Dialogue in the Dark on Wednesday with Meng and Yao and it was a wonderful experience. We were guided by a fantastic visually-impaired guide called Ka Yong who guided us patiently in the dark and taught us to use our other sense to get on with the everyday life.

We attempted to cross the road, buy snacks and even took a boat trip down the Singapore River.
All in complete darkness.
While we were a little apprehensive about not being able to see (especially Meng! he was super uncomfortable!), after a while we got braver and we began to use our sense of touch and hearing to get to our various destinations.

We are all so absorbed in our little world that I honestly feel that rather than spending $26 on say Sentosa or entering Zouk, why not explore Dialogue in the Dark?
You might find a sense of peace in the midst of darkness and see a glimmer of hope and gain strength from the guides.
Their vision may not be as good as ours but honestly, sometimes, it takes more than seeing in living. :)
Besides, this is a social enterprise, you can be earning extra karma points for all your naughty deeds!

In any case, I have lost my sense of talking.
I woke up one morning and realised that I had such a horrible sore throat that I could only whisper at best. It has been like that since Thursday and it's absolutely uncomfortable in not being able to communicate and letting my thoughts spill out in words.
I take it as a time for me to make use of my other senses.
Like how I learn how to express myself through text messages and expressions.
Though half the time, my friends are making fun of the helpless me.
-groans-

But at least I am doing a good deed for them.
I am training them to be better players in Charades and in reading lips! -tadah-
Okay, my friends are fantastic, minus the bullying.
They order food that I can eat and refuses to let me touch too much ice cream.
haha.

No matter what
I STILL WANT MY VOICE BACK.
Do you know how pathetic is it to go out and buy stuff without being able to open my smelly mouth?
