Wednesday, August 11, 2010  To get past every day, we all tend to compromise a little. To get past every day, we all are advocates of self-fulfilling prophecy. Sometimes I think it is hilarious at how self-righteous we all love to be. We fight for honesty and transparency when it comes to social issues and especially so when it comes to financial issues. However yet when it comes to personal issues, 9 out of 10 of us will not fight to face the harsh reality of how things have become. Feet dragging, nervous laughter, tons of excuses and dozens of maybes and what ifs. We tend to dwell on the expired happiness and fight to convince ourselves and those around us that expired honey still taste cloyingly sweet. It is only after we are forced to gulp down that spoonful of expired honey and as we fight to keep a straight face with that horrible sour aftertaste in our mouths, then are we being cornered to face the facts. Like how the fact that the girl no longer clings on to you for advices and instead finds you weak for being all sentimental... Like how the boy no longer texts you a cheery "Good Morning =)" the first thing he wakes up and runs his finger through your hair... We all like to lie to make our lives better so why insist on the truth when lies are what that is keeping you sane? But unlike truth, lies has expiration dates and one day, after all the temporal comfort, you will be forced to face the truth. So rather then losing my appetite and risk the chance of pumping my stomach for food poisoning, I will choose to throw that bottle of expired honey away. Until then, I will swear off honey until I am convinced that honey is good for me. and you should too. |
