Rule #1

Annabel twenty five and full of life. Oscar Wilde taught her that she can resist everything, except temptation.

my love affair with H&M

My 4D3N escapade to paradise went by in a flash.
I walked all over Central that I can confidently tell you now I am able to bring you from Point A to Point B by heart. I could even draw a map if you would allow me to. The streets of HK are pretty confusing and sometimes those signs that HKTB put up to direct tourists like you and me are screwed.
Jess and I wanted to go Lan Kwai Fong. So we exited from Central MTR station and we turned right towards the Central Mid-Levels Escalator as directed by the sign. As we walked, we saw ANOTHER sign that directed us BACK to where we came from. Exasperated, we sought help from a friendly hiong-kong-yan who told us to take a cab as LKF was pretty far. But we walked and realised that LKF was simply 2 streets away from the freaking exit we came out.
That is why, map reading should be made compulsory.
Some countries just have problems with directional arrows.
And English.
Day One - 01 March 2009 Sunday
Being at Changi's Terminal 1 at 5am sure brought an influx of emotions upon me. Was it just 6 months back, at the same place where I had a teary send-off to Wuhan? Back then, i was an emotional wreck, now I am at peace with myself, the only wreck i am causing is to my wallet.
4 hours later and we found ourselves at Hong Kong International Airport (Chek Lap Kok) on Lantau Island. Took the Airport Express to Hong Kong Station then took the MTR from Central and finally arrived at Mong Kok in one piece. I led the way to Sincere House on Argyle Street where King Wah Hostel was situated on Level 10 based on my memory.

Everything seemed to be in the same spot since my last visit in 2006.
The same newspaper vendor spot.
The same Best Denki-alike store.
The same store selling my curry fishballs and smelly toufu.
The same building caretaker.
The only difference is my companion and the state of mind.

The outlook of the building may seem dingy but at least it was safer and better than Chungking Mansions at TST. The previous time I was here, I also stayed at another hostel at Sincere House and since i am still alive and in love with Hong Kong, it means that staying in a hostel overseas aint that a nightmare. Afterall, I am on a shoe-string budget and i see no point burning a few hundred bucks on some hotel where i can used it for better purposes like, food?

Small clean room.
After lugging my luggage in,
there wasnt much walking space left but it was good enough.
SGD80 for 3 nights, such good deals, where to find?!

Hui Lau Shan
The mango dessert is soooooo goood.
If only i could tao-baoed it back to SG.
-smacks lips-

We spent our first day around the Mong Kok area.
Argyle Centre is a gem.
It is like the Far East Plaza of Hong Kong but forget about bargaining because even though HK is part of China, HK is more like SG. You should be kissing the floor and the feet of the shopkeeper if she is willing to shave off 5-10HKD off your purchases. Most of the clothes there are repetitive, a la what you can find on taobao.com, so be careful of being ripped off.

FYI, i.t. in HK is like our Club 21.
anna sui wallet were like going for less than 150SGD
dkny strewn over the floor.
-faints with joy-

Headed to Langham Place where there were sale everywhere and i met THE ONE.
Time came to a standstill.
My heart raced.
My hands trembled.
My eyes watered.
My knees wobbled.

I nearly cried with joy when i saw..

H&M.

My eyes literally lit up when i saw the bright lights and mannequins decked out in H&M.Went in and i realised half of Mong Kok was probably in there.
The clothes were in a mess and i literally had to dig and pull them out.
Wanted to try out the clothes but the snaking queue was a major turn-off.
Still, i was totally mesmerized by H&M.

My stomach threw a tantrum and I decided that dinner was more important. Dined at Ajisen and we saw people taking part in a ramen-eating competition. They were supposed to finish one bowl of Ajisen Ramen in 3.5 minutes. By completing so, they get a free meal if not they have to pay.

This two guys failed.
But there were people who really did manage this feat.
One ang moh actually managed to finish the bowl of ramen under 2 minutes!
He probably had a huge mouth that was immune to heat.
Or, he was really hungry.
Maybe if Yao or MX was around, I'm sure they'll "owned" everyone there.
-grins-
will be back with more HK updates. =)
